Mass. correctional worker indicted for inmate sex
LAWRENCE — A grand jury has indicted a former Essex County Correctional Facility employee for having sex with an inmate.
Investigators said Patricia Papa, 40, is facing a charge of sexual relations with an inmate by an officer or other employee of a penal or correctional institution.
The conduct allegedly occurred with a male inmate on different dates in March at the Correctional Alternative Center in Lawrence. At the time Papa was the facility’s re-integration coordinator.
Papa is expected to be arraigned in Salem Superior Court in the next few weeks and faces up to five year in prison.
A call to Papa’s lawyer was not immediately returned Saturday.
The case will be prosecuted by Essex Assistant District Attorney Melissa Woodard.
